Most of us who have any kind of vision problem like astigmatism, hyperopia, myopia or presbyopia prefer to wear spectacles as it is most convenient and affordable too. However, for some of you wearing glasses everyday may be boring and for them there is another option available and that is to switch to contact lenses.

If you are interested to switch to contact lenses instead of wearing glasses then read the following:

  • First determine whether you are right candidate for contact lenses

Before, switching to contact lens, I will rather prefer to see any eye doctor near me and consult whether my eye will suit for switching to contact lens. Contact lens is certainly an option available however many people cannot tolerate contact lens in their eyes. Some people may have dry eyes and cannot tolerate wearing contact lens.

  • What kind of profession you are engaged in?

What kind of work you do is very important while deciding whether contact lens is right for you or not. If your work environment is such that where there are flying debris, ash, smoke, sawdust, dirt or any other hazards that may enter into your eyes, then you are not a good candidate for wearing contact lens. In case, any dirt or debris enter into your eyes then it will cause irritation in your eyes unless it is cleaned or removed and treated. While remaining in dirty environment it is not right thing to remove the dirt. It may create serious eye infection and even cause blindness.

  • Check your working hours

If your working hours are too long then it can affect your schedule of cleaning and maintaining your contact lenses. Contact lenses are meant to wear for certain fixed period of time. It is essential that you need to take it off so that your eyes can get some a break. If you do not adhere to a regular schedule of cleaning the lens as prescribed by your doctor, then it can create certain eye problem.

  • Check your cleaning habits

Contact lens require that you must maintain your hygiene properly. As per the data available, about 40 to 90 per cent of contact lens users suffer from serious infection in their eyes because of not following proper instructions about cleaning.

  • Can you really afford it?

If you switch to soft disposable contact lens then you have to change your contact lens daily. If you prefer to wear rigid lens then you need to buy an expensive cleaning solution every month.
